UNSC Membership Bid BY India Supported by Britain and France

Britain and France have shown their support for India's case for permanent membership of the UN Security Council and favored deepening of joint ties between them. The support from nations came during a joint conference the new British Prime Minister, David Cameron and French President, Nicolas Sarkozy had with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, late last night prior to the G20 Summit.

This was the foremost conference Singh had with Cameron after his election, as British Prime Minister and felicitated him on his triumph.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has been appointed a CBE

In the Queen's Birthday Honors List, the film star Catherine Zeta Jones has appointed a CBE. The Oscar-winning star has been honored with actress Sophie Okonedo and actor John Nettles.

Both of them were honored with OBEs. The writer Ronald Harwood, winner of best adapted screenplay Oscar for "The Pianist" of 2003 has received a knighthood in this ceremony.

Amidst the economic whirlwinds the pound gained some extra points viz a viz the dollar in today's trading after the new fiscal budget disclosed the short-term borrowing situation.

In today's context the Sterling inclined the ladder by 1.4% against the dollar to reach to the $1.477 level after the new Office for Budget Responsibility expressed the stronger tax receipts may bite in the budget deficit for this current financial year to £155bn from the £163bn.

Depression is a disorder which is not a sign of personal weakness or a condition that can be avoided easily. People with a depressive disease cannot even concentrate on many activities, associated with their daily lives.

Moreover an individual feels more burdened if he/she is suffering from pain along with depression. Thus, the British Researchers stated that pain has a greater effect when a person is under depression.

Majestic Wins roaring with more than double profits

This quarter Majestic Wine is witnessing an 117pc rise in its pre-tax profits bolstered by the robust sales of wines which costs more than £20 a bottle. Profits plunged to a £16m in the year till the end of March, up from £7.4m in the same period since last year.

Majestic shares jumped 4.6pc in early trading. According to the company statements the total sales inclined up to 15.6pc to £233.2m, with accordance to the sales of fine wines coming in the range of £20 a bottle or more then rising 22.7pc and presenting the 5pc of UK store sales.

Cheap Cancer Drug Found Effective Against Wet AMD

Avastin, a cheap drug which is used to treat bowel cancer, has also been found effective to prevent sight loss, UK researchers have suggested. Though licensed for bowel cancer, Avastin is used across the globe to cure wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is a leading cause of blindness in the UK.

Also, Avastin is quite cheaper than Lucentis, the drug licensed to treat wet, which costs around £10,000 per patient on an average. The rate of Avastin to treat wet AMD, however, would be known only after it is licensed for the disease.

Meat-Rich Diet Can Trigger Early Periods

A study has revealed that the girls who consume large quantity of meat during their early years tend to begin with their menstruation cycle earlier than other girls. A diet of more than 3,000 12-year-old girls was examined by UK researchers to conduct this study.

In this test, it was seen that the early periods are strongly linked to eating large amount of meat at the age of three (over eight portions a week) and at the age of seven (12 portions). This was explained by the scientists that a meat-rich diet sets up a body for pregnancy, which can therefore, prompt an advance puberty.

Scientists claim to have found the first important link between autism and DNA. Autism, a troubling behavioral disorder in many humans, affects more than half-a-million Britons. A major cause of the developmental sickness is found to be the alterations in the genetic make-up of autistic children, as revealed by the researchers. Now, based on counteracting the fundamental errors in a patient's genetic code, the new inventions and findings can give early diagnostic tests for autism and new forms of treatment.

Rise in Deaths Recorded Due to Melanoma Cancer

According to statistics, a one-third rise in the number of casualties from skin cancer malignant melanoma has been witnessed in the past decade. Where in 1999 the deaths tolled 127, the Scottish Government said this figure rose to 171 in 2008.

These statistics are a warning for all people to be careful and protect themselves, especially in summers. The record of these figures had been requested by the Conservatives.

The output of UK industrial showed a decline in figures and an unexpected fall in April but according to the economists, the figures are not a cause of concern. This year April, the industrial Output declined by 0.4 per cent as compared with the March, with accordance to the Office for National Statistics. However the Commentators had forecasted an inclination in the output by 0.5 per cent.
