Brilliant Performance by Saina Nehwal at Indonesia Open
Saina Nehwal carried on with her rampaging form to win the Indonesia Open Super Series and scored a hat-trick of titles on Sunday. The ace Indian shuttler was able to find her victory over Japan's Sayaka Sato 21-19, 13-21, 21-11 in the final in Jakarta to expand her three-week unbeaten run and add to the Indian Open Grand Prix and Singapore Open titles that she collected in the preceding weeks.
It is the 20-year-old world No 3's three's third Super Series title on the whole.
In a see-saw clash that kept on for 45 minutes, the 19-year-old Sato matched the defending champ, shot for shot for the majority part of the opening game however, was undone by her individual mistakes at vital junctures.
The first game that lasted 14 minutes had both the players tied 11-11 at one level and although Saina remained in lead for nearly all parts after that, a grainy Sato did have her share of opportunities.
Leading 20-18, Saina could have finished it off on her individual serve, but she handed Sato an option by hitting the shuttle wide.
However, it was Sato’s hard luck, since the opportunity was taken in profit for own self and smacked a forehand into the net to give Saina the opening game.
