Bharti investing in Nigeria
Friday amidst and exclusive interview the Bharti Airtel group expressed that it is planning to endow approximately $100 million in Niger to perk up the grip and quality of the network spread in the West African nation by end of 2012.
Bharti started the mobile maneuver amongst the 15 African nations when it finalized the attainment of the African resources of Kuwait’s Zain during the previous month. The completion of this deal crafted the Bharti group to plunge the position at the world’s No.5 mobile phone operator by the subscribers.
According to the chief executive of the group’s international business, Manoj Kohli, they are about to commence their activities in Niger during the month of October and, by 2012, they are expecting to invest $100 million, or approximately 50 billion CFA francs, in stretching their network, and improving the quality of the service and the reach of network in the rural areas.
Adding further he expressed that the group further makes sure that the telecommunications services shall craft more accessibility in regards to price, quality and improving the service improves.
The Bharti groups seems to be facing a tough competition in a fully packed domestic market, but crosses fingers to bet on the opportunities coming ahead in Africa where the mobile phone penetration is 32 percent, much less than India’s 50 percent, with fewer competitors.
