Ford meeting Figo demand in Chennai
Figo, Ford’s latest sensation has swept the domestic demand by it feet’s for Ford India, and according to the group’s official shared that Ford is simultaneously crafting the keenness in the overseas markets like South Africa, further provoking the automaker to commence with the second shift at the Maraimalainagar plant located in Chennai during June.
With regards to the views of Ford India Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) Nigel E. Wark, the group has already started its second production shift at the Chennai plant to convene the inclining the demand for Figo.
Moreover, Figo is receiving a good retort from the market and the group has ushered with 24,000 purchase orders in the first drive of its four months of launch. Mr. Wark added that this small car shall entail the sales growth in the Indian markets although he denied commenting upon unveiling the figures of production that seems to have been increased after adding the second shift.
During the early days the President and Managing Director of Ford India, Michael Boneham expressed that the second shift may entail an elevation in the production capacity of the small car by 30-40 per cent. He also specified that the company is thinking over to hire 600-700 staff at the plant with criteria of diploma holders and fresh pass-outs only.
It seems that Ford India is pulling its socks up to gear on the production to export the Figo to South Africa.
