BJP Says National Bandh Successful
Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are exclaiming they have been successful in alarming the centre over the concerns regarding the consistently rising fuel prices, after staging the national protest today.
The strike was observed in numerous parts of the nation. BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said that as per the reports released from different wings in the country, the national bandh has attained success.
She added that reports justify that even a number of Congress dominated states witnessed shut downs. This is an indication of the agitation among the people over rise in prices.
"A bandh is not a constructive way to protest, but how else do people protest, if the government does not listen to them does not notice their voice?”She said.
The BJP spokesperson further said that price rise concerns were raised for the first time in the parliament via cut motions in the recent budget sitting, but they were removed by the voting observed in parties like SP and RJD, who showed opposition to the proposal.
Last month, the Government attempted to reduce the costs of petrol by increasing the diesel price by Rs. 2 per liter. In order to meet the reduction in petrol prices, the Government raised cooking gas and kerosene prices.
