Pune to Witness Onset of Monsoon in Couple of Days
Pune on Monday observed some progress in monsoon, a week after its arrival in Kerala on May 31.
Following an arrest of a week, the southwest monsoon has now moved to "some parts of the central Arabian Sea, most parts of coastal Karnataka and some parts of south interior Karnataka”, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The monsoon is expected to progress in a couple of days.
Earlier after the knocking of monsoon, very less detectable progress was seen till Monday.
According to Director Weather Forecasting, IMD, Medha Khole, the main reason of the halt in monsoon in the western region of the country is the cyclone Phet.
She added that the effect of storm has now leveled and this resulted in pushing monsoon further.
It has been reported by the IMD daily weather report that now the conditions are encouraging for further advancement of the southwest monsoon. The monsoon will now be approaching some more parts of the central Arabian sea, several parts of Konkan-Goa and Central Maharashtra and also various parts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh in coming two or three days.
The monsoon in Pune, this year, will commence three days before its normal onset date on June 7.
