Mickky Pacheco Finally in Jail
Mickky Pacheco, who has been accused of conjuring up an illness as a get-out-of-jail pass, has finally been arrested and taken into custody by the Goa police.
The ex- Minister of Tourism in Goa is charged with being involved with the death case of a young woman who he said was a `close friend', Nadia Torrado.
Nadia died in a Chennai hospital in the month of May due to complications that sprung up from eating rat poison. Her relatives, like Pacheco, say that by mistake she must have consumed it, assuming it to be the tube of toothpaste.
The Goa police, on the other hand, have accused Pacheco of guilty killing. It has said that Pacheco tried to obliterate proof that connected him to Nadia's death.
Pacheco disappeared in early June for close to a month after he was questioned by the Goa police. He gave in application for anticipatory bail more than a few times, but was rejected by a succession of courts.
He at last surrendered in a court in Margao on July 3 after the Supreme Court rebuffed his bail application.
Within a few hours of being taken into detention, though, he complained of chest pains and was taken to a hospital. The Goa police had quarreled that his illness did not seem authentic. A local court said previously this week that Pacheco could be taken back to prison as soon as docs declared him medically healthy and fit to be taken to the jail.
