Meet the Alto beaters
There is no denying to the fact that as the Alto sells close to 20,000 units on an average in the Indian market, it easily makes the product the highest selling in the Indian passenger car market but the segment is likely to be very crowded in the times to come.
With Hyundai planning its H800 that is expected to be launched by 2012 in the Indian market, experts are supporting the fact that the Korean auto major will give the Indian market leader, a tough run for its money.
Moreover, players like Tata motors, Fiat, Volkswagen and Gm are also firming up plans to gain presence in the entry-level compact car segment, the future may not that smooth for Maruti.
However, the company is also planning a new variant of the Alto which is expected to debut very soon in the Indian market with a 1 litre K series engine.
But as the competition will still take a couple of years to make a significant impact in the entry-level segment, Maruti can still choose to keep its flag flying high in the Indian market.
