Centre Has Blocked Mega Projects in Bihar, Says Nitish
Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar on Friday disparaged the Centre for supposedly jamming execution of tenders for mega projects for ethanol and power in the state.
"Several private entrepreneurs submitted proposals for investing thousands of crores of rupees for setting up projects for manufacturing ethanol and thermal power. We have ended up in a mess as the Centre has not given its nod to the bill adopted by the state assembly for manufacture of ethanol from sugarcane juice besides for power”, said Kumar.
Repetitive requests to the Centre and Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, had been futile and had not yielded any constructive response so far, which left these mega projects waiting; he said as an answer as to why his Government had been unsuccessful in bringing mega projects during the past 55 months.
He pointed out that the exceptional state status would assist refund in taxes to be imposed by the Centre, which would further magnetize investments.
He claimed that the state Government had positioned a State Industrial Promotion Board and pioneered single window system for sanction of projects.
Also Lok Janashakti Party accused Nitish Kumar of ‘playing the RSS game’, and claimed that the latest argument between the ruling alliance partners, JD and BJP, was nothing, but a pre-arranged plan to mystify people in the state, in front of assembly elections.
