Beaten by octopus Paul, life returns to normal for parakeet Mani
Besides oracle Octopus Paul, Mani the parakeet had also started predicting the football World cup’s results, getting all the semifinalists team correct, thereby shooting to international fame instantly. However, 70-year old Singaporean fortune-teller M Muniyappan’s green bird lost its stardom with Spain emerging victorious from the finals at South Africa.
The bird’s fame had already started declining after it has wrongly picked Uruguay as one of the finalists, but picking the Netherlands as the eventual champions sealed the bird’s fate as being mistaken, unlike German Paul’s unbeaten record of getting every match’s prediction right.
Mani used to make his predictions by selecting from two pieces of paper with flags hidden in them.
Muniyappan has told to a newspaper that now life would come back to normal for both him and his parakeet, and the pre-World Cup level rates would return 4-5 Singapore dollars for predictions, as compared to 50 Singapore dollars for every World Cup forecast.
Despite Mani coming back to daily business at his owner’s shop in Singapore, there is reason for him to be happy as a Wikipedia page has already been dedicated to him on the Internet encyclopedia.
