Two of India's largest media conglomerates- Sun Network and Network 18 have formed a strategic alliance in order to roll out of India's biggest distribution entities. The new formed entity christened as Sun 18, is viewed to register itself as a dominant player pay-tv subscription market within a period of two years.

The deal between the two also marks as foray by the Network18 Group into the Indian television distribution space.

This marriage between the two has been structured in a way that the two new entities named - Sun18 Media Services North Co., headed by Haresh Chawla, Group CEO - Network18 and Viacom18 and Sun18 Media Services South headed by Rajesh Kamat(Group COO - Viacom18 & CEO - COLORS will respectively have clearly demarcations in areas of operations.

As per now, Sun18 which is already the highest GRP delivering bouquet in the India will distribute a sum total of 33 channels at all platforms through all networks including cable, DTH, IPTV, HITS and MMDS.
