Fairbook termed as racist
An online ad for skincare brand Vaseline’s new fairness product for men has been tagged by the international media as racist. Posted on Facebook the application has even been titled as ridiculous in an HT City poll of 100 men.
As out of total 100 respondents around 70 percent declared a strict no-no for the product, while the remaining pie of 25 and 5 percent respectively opted out for responses like “ try it out for fun” and “weren’t sure”.
Interestingly as per a research done by market research group Nielson, the fairness products market size in the country is around $500 million and the sales of such products for men has escalated to 25 percent as compared to last year.
Suffering from a poor online rating the application has no buyers even in real world also.
Even the international media like the wall street journal, the Guardian, UK and the Atlantic, US has criticized the application in a big way.
