Amla named as South African Cricketer of the Year
Indian-origin batsman Hashim Amla has been named as the Cricketer of Year in South Africa's Annual Awards night. Amla has managed to clinch the 'Cricketer of the Year' honor along with four other trophies.
He was also declared the 'Test Cricketer of the Year', 'South African Players' Player of the Year' and 'CSA Fans' Cricketer of the Year'. This has been all together a night of Hashim Amla. Apart from these awards, the cricketer had also received a special trophy was the 'So Good Award'.
It was sponsored by the popular chicken fast food franchise KFC. He had got this award for his match-winning knock of 253 not out against India. In the first test match played in Nagpur last year, Amla had scored the blistering knock of double ton against the Indian team.
In other awards, AB de Villiers had received the award for the 'ODI Cricketer of the Year'. Pace bowler Charl Langeveldt was named as the 'International Pro20 Cricketer of the Year' while Ryan McLaren was named as the 'Newcomer of the Year.
