Tendulkar Steals the Show by Scoring 203
The master blaster scored 203 and Suresh Raina made his first ever century, as India exceeds Sri Lanka's massive first innings total, by exhibiting marvelous batting skills in the second cricket Test on Thursday. Tendulkar's stamina was put to test as he anchored the innings brilliantly.
Raina scored 120 while Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni notched up 76 runs. Raina was a replacement for the unwilling Yuvraj Singh. India had a slight lead of 27 runs, with Ishant Sharma contributing 10 runs and last man, Pragyan Ojha not contributing anything.
There is a great possibility that the match will end in a draw, as the track at the Sinhalese Sports ground is still playing easy. If the match is draw, India will be able to retain its status of being the number one Test team in the ICC rankings.
Tendulkar stole the show by notching up his fifth double century. Debutant Raina proved to be the backbone of India's resistance, who also became the 12th debutant century maker for India.
Ajantha Mendis brought an end to the 256-run partnership between Tendulkar and Raina, which was a relief to the hosts. About two sixes and twelve fours were scored by the 23-year-old Raina.
