Tendulkar given rest, Yuvraj called back
Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh were rested while Yuvraj Singh was called back for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka involving India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand to be held in Dambulla from august 10 to 25.
The selectors declared the 15 man squad for the tri-series and Indian opener Gautam Gambhir was also given rest who missed out the second Test against Sri Lanka due to a knee injury. Off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and batsman Saurabh Tiwary who have performed well in the domestic circuit have been retained in the squad to be led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
India’ s pace spearhead Zaheer Khan have been left out of the team as he has not completely recovered from his shoulder injury which made him to miss the entire Test series against Sri-Lanka. The selectors opted for retaining more or less the same squad that won the Asia Cup in June.
The squad for the triangular series is Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Cptain), Virender Sehwag (Vice Captain), Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik, R Ashwin, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Abhimanyu Mithun, Ashish Nehra, Pragyan Ojha and Saurab Tiwary.
