There are some facts, which are still not known to the audiences. The leading actor, Aamir Khan had initially declined the offer of Peepli Live, which is directed by Anusha Rizvi.

Aamir was offered the movie through an email and the movie name was named as "The Falling" (the earlier thought name). He thought of it as a joke and declined it, as told by Aamir himself.

He added, "But she kept writing to me and told me that she was a journalist from NDTV. So that's when I started to take her a little bit more seriously".

After some meetings with the director, Aamir got fascinated by the concept.

Peepli Live has been made under Aamir Khan's home production. Anusha Rizvi wrote the story, which is a satire on the farmers' plight, Indian political situation and the media.

At the 31st Durban International Film Festival, it was declared as the Best First Feature Film. The Sundance Film Festival also places Peepli Live at its event and it also made its appearance at the Berlin Film Festival and in the UK.

The movie had its world premiere at Sun City in South Africa. On this, Aamir stated that this place has always been lucky for him and he hopes that the same applies for his forthcoming movie Peepli Live, as well.

The movie will be releasing on August 31.
