The Indian Hockey team had been asked by the government of India to submit a show-cause notice. However, team Hockey India’s reply to the show-cause notice was found highly unsatisfactory by the government of India.

Thus the government took a major step on Thursday and declared their decision to withdraw the recognition of Hockey India (HI) for violating the guidelines laid down to them. This decision was announced only a few hours after Hockey India finished their controversial elections.

Then the Hockey India team was also asked to give an explanation as to why they should not be derecognised in the wake of their declaration in front of the Delhi High Court that they are a private body.

All contentions and arguments put forth by the team Hockey India were rejected by the Sports Ministry of India.

In fact, the Sports Ministry of India wrote a letter to both the president as well as the secretary general of the team Hockey India and notified them that they had terminated the provisional recognition of the team Hockey India.
