CWG Delhi 2010 theme song is not a take on "Waka Waka"- says Shyam Benegal
Much after when the news of Music maestro- A. R Rehman composing the theme song for Common wealth Games Delhi 2010 came into limelight, now the games are again flashing a new controversy. This time the hoopla is related to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
As it is speculated that the theme song for the games is supposedly a copy of the famous "Waka Waka" song, sung by International Pos star- Shakira. The song was an official song for the recent FIFA world cup held in South Africa.
The air around the rumors has been filtered by veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal, who is a member of the core committee of the Commonwealth Games. He further commented that different countries have different theme songs and the one for the CWG will have exhortative lyrics.
The song is pegged to have two versions with different music wherein most of the lyrics will be in Hindi with a touch of English in it.
It will feature words like "Oh yaaro, India bula liya” which means Friends, we have called you to India, is all set to swoon audiences across the globe with its tunes. However the composer-singer of the song- A R Rahman, has delayed the completion of the song.
