The Legal Battle among Ambani’s Put to an End
The defamation suit of Rs. 10,000 crore against Mukesh Ambani has been dropped by the younger sibling Anil Ambani in the Bombay High Court this Tuesday.
"Yes, we have withdrawn the suit claiming Rs. 10,000 crore as damages", an Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group spokesman said.
In the year 2008, the the defamation suit had been filed by Anil Ambani curtly after Mukesh's RIL put a strut in his effort to attain South African telecom giant MTN that year.
The Anil Ambani group was compelled to drop its plans for unification with the South African mobile Company after RIL had sent a permissible notice to MTN, emphasizing its right of first rebuttal on stake in RCom.
The defamation suit was anyways plunged within days of RCom choosing to devolve 26% stake in a deliberate sale.
It is being said that Anil had yanked his brother to court, claiming that Mukesh had deprecated him in an interview to New York Times that was replicated in two leading Indian newspapers. The suit in opposition to the newspapers has also been withdrawn.
Putting a full stop to the harsh public and authorized battle, the Ambani brothers signed a lull contract, late last month. A family settlement to divide the Reliance Empire in 2005 supported by mother Kokilaben, too took place.
A non-competition agreement was signed between the respective groups of the brothers, a step that would enable flexibility on both the sides to exploit assets more resourcefully and penetrate into businesses, which till now have been unapproachable.
