Indians Look Forward to FIFA World Cup

Indians are seemed to be enthusiastic about the English Premier League Football as sites like Facebook and Twitter are flooded with updates from the young fans. For years, Cricket has ruled the roost in the country. However, recent events show that the domination of cricket is becoming less day by day.

FIFA World Cup is expected to pull in large Indian crowds as the Indian fans are gripped with the football fever. One of the advantages to the Indian football fans is the suitability of the time slots for the country.

Employees at the media agencies disclose that, so far the response of the advertisers towards football has been phenomenal.

Managing Director of ESPN Software India, RC Venkateish reveals that there has been a rise in the average spot rate by around 250% as compared to the last edition. He further adds that previous ratings of FIFA in India have at times matched with Cricket.

According to media agency sources, the advertising rates in the World Cup are going to be about Rs. 2 lakh for 10 seconds on condition that all the 58 matches are bought. Companies like Airtel DTH and Vodafone have been roped in by ESPN-Star Sports as joint broadcast sponsors. Nokia, Hero Honda and Samsung will be the Associate Sponsors.
