Renault-Nissan ready for a dream-run
While the company has taken its own time in studying the Indian market but the alliance of Renault-Nissan is now very much serious about its success in the Indian market and hence is turning on the Heat.
In fact, as it is closing in to the date of the launch of its small car i. e. Nissan Micra, the company has also announced that it will raise its production capacity to 400,000 units production year or so ahead of schedule.
While the MD of Nissan India Kiminiobu Tokuyama declined to comment on the time frame of the expansion but sources say that it will done well before the 2015 deadline.
Notably, the company currently has a capacity of close to 2 lakh units at its Chennai unit. It may be noted here that the company is banking for its success on the 'V' platform, on which the Micra is the first product that will be followed by a sedan and a MPV.
Moreover, Renault will be building its Clio hatchback on the same plant by 2013. While the Micra will be exported to over 100 countries from India, the company is aiming to sell close to 1, 00,000 units in the domestic market by 2012-13.
