Bharti becomes the fifth largest Telecom player across the globe
Soon after Sunil Bharti Mittal signed his deal with the African telco Zain, Bharti became the fifth largest telecom giant across the globe.
In a recently held event, the company announced the sealing of the dealing with Zain and the deal worth the $9 billion has given a total base of 180 million customers in 18 countries and annual revenue of $12.4 billion to the telecom giant.
While Manoj Kohli, chief executive officer of Bharti's international operations will soon be relocating to Naiorbi with the core team of his soon, Kohli said that he will be working with three goals in mind i. e. to bank hundred million customers, $5 billion in revenues and $2 billion Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) for the company by the financial year 2012-13.
After the company finalized its deal with Broad Communications, the single largest shareholder in Zain, it was announced that its chief Oba Otudeko will be chairman of Bharti's operations in Nigeria.
Analysts are supporting the fact that Bharti will need to replicate its Minutes Factory model in the African market to see good results and as it is very important put a local flavor in every market; it will suit its bill.
