Movie Review: Kaalo
The colour black and darkness are often associated with horror films. All spooky and scary things tend to occur at night, especially with the moon being covered with dark clouds. However, director Wilson Louis has taken a radical and rather bold step with his decision to go against all odds and basic his horror flick during the daytime.
Louis has already directed Ho Sakta Hai, Mallika and now his new venture is Kaalo, wherein he has made his love for horror very lucid. Besides being a day horror film, Kaalo will also be India's debut creature film.
The story revolves around a witch named Kaalo in the 18th century who used to kill several young girls to become immortal in the Kulbhata village. She was thus killed and buried by the people of the village.
However, after many years, the stories of Kaalo coming back to haunt the village scared the villagers beyond anything and they vacated the village of Kulbhata overnight. Now a bus carrying eleven passengers has to go via Kulbhata, where Kaalo is hunting.
The film is set in a Rajasthan desert, and Kaalo is made to appear more like a man with large wings.
