South Africa’s green signal for Imran Tahir
One of the very fine talents in South Africa, the spinner who plays for Nashua Dolphins, Imran Tahir, has now finally been given the green signal to play for South Africa. He is of Pakistani origin and has been now awarded with South African citizenship by naturalization and is now eligible to play for the country.
The ICC also has a regulation which states that to be eligible for the player to play for another country; he should not have played for the country of his birth at any level for more than four years. This regulation is now fulfilled by Imran, and he now stands a chance for national selection.
He is 31, and has given some of his best performance in the domestic season recently, by bagging 535 first-class wickets at 25.09 from 127 matches.
In Jan 2010, he was picked to play against England but had to be dropped over some last moment issues on paperwork. He has now married a South African and has made South Africa his home.
He shall at present be mulling over for the ODI’s in opposition to India in the continuing progression.
