Bhoot and Friends reviewed
The festive season of December is on and everyone including Bollywood wants to cash up on it. Last week saw two big releases, Toonpur Ka Superhero and Tees Maar Khan.
TMK got a decent opening because of the hype but failed to gather any sort of momentum, while Ajay Devgn’s kid film Toonpur Ka Superhero also did not make any waves. This Friday when there were no major releases, a Jackie Shroff starrer low on hype ‘Bhoot and friends’ released.
The film is pretty similar to another Jackie starrer Bhoot Uncle, as was evident from the poster, and have the same producer Aneesh Arjun Dev. The film is directed by Kittu Saluja [Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii; 2007] and is surprisingly a decent watch.
The film was not promoted at all, though it has some great climax scenes and decent quality of animation. The plot of the story is that a few kids accidentally get involved in a hunt for local treasure which is also wanted by the bad guy of the film Ashwin Mushran.
The film meets a ghost played by Jackie Shroff and helps them get the treasure and fight the villain. The film is engrossing in parts but has the same old tricks like using marbles, to make villains slip from the floor, the jokes too are clichéd.
The actors have performed well, the direction is also good, but the lack of promotion and almost zero hype will nowhere help the film gather the audience.
