BPO Sector in India to grow by 15%, says Nasscom

As per the top official group of the IT sector, Nasscom, the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector is expected to grow by 15-16 per cent. This was said by a top official of the industry body.

The data given by Nasscom has showed that the back-office operations outsourcing business clocked in $12.4 billion in 2009-10. This despite the fact that recession was at full swing in the developed world at that time.

Talking to the media, the President of Nasscom, Som Mittal said, "We expect the growth this year to be 15 to 16 percent higher than last year." That is a good sign looking at the fact that the job market has still not caught up in most of the developed nations.

Talking about the European debt crisis, Som said that it had very little and in most cases no impact on the outsourcing industry.

But, now that it is not sure where the crisis is heading, there is no surety what will happen in the future.

He was talking during the sidelines of Nasscom BPO Strategy Summit to the media.
