No victory bells for A.R. Rahman in Golden Globe
Golden Globe 2010 went to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for their music in The Social Network and A. R. Rahman lost out.
Golden Globe 2009 was won by famous Indian musician A. R. Rahman for his music in Slumdog Millionaire and he was expecting to repeat the history by winning Golden Globe 2010 for his music in the film 127 Hours but unfortunately he did not get lucky second time.
A day before Golden Globe awards were announced, A. R. Rahman was honored with the best original song trophy at the 16th Critics Choice Awards for his number 'If I Rise' from the film 127 Hours.
The Social Network essays about a social networking website Facebook and its resulting lawsuits. "The film contains 18 scores and it is hard to believe that I had won the Golden Globe award for Nine Inch Nails", said Reznor in his acceptance speech.
Reznor also told that the film includes sound track from The Beatles, Bob Marley, 10cc, Gluecifer and The White Stripes and it is very strange for him to accept the award in competition with these famous musicians.
The song 'If I Rise' was made in collaboration with A. R. Rahman and British popstar Dido which become very popular number. Rahman manages to capture lots of appreciation for his "haunting tracks" and "wonderful crescendo" in '127 Hours'.
In the year 2009, he made India proud by winning two Oscars for his music in Slumdog Millionaire and in 2010 his song 'Na Na' from his Hollywood debut was also nominated in the 'Best Original Category' but he failed to win it.
Rahman is named as 'Mozart of Madras' and he has done justice to his name by winning many awards like Padma Bhushan in 2009 and had won two gramophones for his music in Slumdog Millionaire at the 52ndGrammy Awards.
