Nilekani to head Finance Ministry’s technical advisory group

Nandan Nilekani will be the head of a technical advisory committee set up by the Government. The Finance Ministry has informed that it is going to set up a committee to advise effective use of information technology in several financial sectors and schemes.

As per the statement, UIDAI chairman Nandan Nilekani will be the head of this committee. This group will guide various systems like areas of income tax, new pension system and the proposed Goods and Service Tax to use IT applications effectively.

In a statement, the Finance Ministry has declared that the name of the new constitution will be Technology Advisory Group for Unique Projects (TAGUP). Nilekani will lead the team and there are six other members as well. SEBI chairman C. B. Bhave will be a member of this team.

The Finance Ministry has said that the team will work on five distinct projects and they are Tax Information Network (TIN), the New Pension System (NPS), the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA), the Expenditure Information Network (EIN) and Goods and Service Tax (GST).
