Protect yourself this Holi
Holi is the festival of colors and is celebrated with great enthusiasm. In addition to smearing gulal and splashing colors on each other, one should also take precautions to protect the skin and hair from chemicals used in the colors.
Many colors consist of harmful ingredients so experts have suggested few remedies to take care of skin and hair.
Abhijit Desai, makeover expert and MD of Evolve Med Spa said that black paste consist of lead, green colour consist of copper sulphate and red contains mercury sulphite and all these chemicals are toxic and can cause skin allergies so youngsters should avoid using thee colors. He suggested that people should go for skin-friendly natural colors and make their Holi special.
People should try to cover most body parts while playing holi, suggested by Prashant C. P, head, technical division of Birla Kerala Vaidyashala. He said that his company offers pre and post Holi packages for the employees like Sarvakaya Abhyangam and Soundrya Samvartakam respectively.
Experts said that in earlier time colours were made out of flowers like Palash and Tesu and herbs like henna, margosa, kumkum, turmeric, and bilva were used for dry colors. But now, organic colors have been replaced by toxic industrial colors which are mainly used for industrial textile purposes.
