Glance at Opening of World Cup Football 2010
Friday saw the opening of the majestic Football World Cup 2010, beginning its opening match in the Soccer City of South Africa, Johannesburg. Worth $403 million, and shaped like a calabash, is the stadium of the city and is also the melting pot for all Africans. This will be the same stadium where the grand tournament of this season will end.
Where Bafana will be taking on Mexico in the Group A opening match with South Africa, the fans of the host team will be bonded intimately by its country with the help of team shirts, which they would put on and sport flags by waving over along with learning the national anthem to chorus in the stadium. This is just according to the concept of 'Football Fridays' introduced by South Africa.
Also, another unique factor about these finals is that, they are first to be seen in winters after the once held in Chile in 1962.
South Africa Coach, Carlos Parreira, said, "It is difficult to not be affected by the joy the World Cup has brought to South Africa. We want to enjoy the game though I know it is not easy to enjoy against a team as strong as Mexico".
