FIFA Brings Malware Fear Along
Amid the soccer frenzy in Africa, temptation to get various offers and the resulting viruses are not very far. There are various emails that offer tickets for the football matches, at very low prices.
These emails have fake videos of football matches and also, the messages which lure the readers by announcing them as the winner of any football lottery scheme.
At present, Internet is full of such malevolent emails, keeping in mind the craze of people for ongoing FIFA world cup. These emails can also persuade the user to click on links, which in turn may fill the user’s PC with viruses. These viruses are efficient enough for stealing the data and removing the personal information too.
According to Symantec, an Internet security firm, spammers fake the websites and innocent net users consider these websites to be the original sites for football world cup. The deceived users pay for the content, which in actual does not even exist.
South Africa has a new technology infrastructure, which makes it easy for the cyberspace to be more corrupted.
According to Shantanu Ghosh, Vice President, India Product Operations, Symantec, these fake sites also try to attract the net users offering the discounts in South Africa Hotels, but a user should not be fooled by them, as it is not sure how they will try to gather personal information stored in user computers.
