Electric scooters all set for a fly
It may have taken more than nine years for the Stanford Graduate Chetan Maini to sell close to 3,500 units of the Reva in the Indian market before the entrepreneur sold a majority stake of the company to the conglomerate M&M, but it is widely believed that the electric two-wheelers are set for a drive on a highway in times to come.
Keeping in mind the factors, like electric car is not only pricey to the consumer by normal standards but it also requires ample space for charging, wherein an electric two-wheeler scores on both these fronts, will be a big advantage that the segment can play on.
Moreover, the two-wheeler makers are also very bullish on the growth of the segment and are looking at it as the one segment that has the potential to drive the future for many companies.
It may be noted here that close to 14 million electric two-wheelers are sold in China every year and India’s total two-wheeler market is 80% of China’s. The electric two-wheeler market is set for the next phase of growth.
