Hero Motors may enter into superbikes
It has been just been days that the four-way separation of the Munjal family business happened but Pankaj Munjal nephew of the patriarch Brijmohan Lall Munjal is weighing options of rolling out motorcycles in the Indian market. Notably, Hero Motors, the company that it managed by Pankaj Munjal is talking to global superbike makers including Harley Davidson to roll out products in the superbike category in the Indian market.
Moreover, while the segment that Hero Motors is planning a entry in will not compete with the models of Hero Honda but it will mark the entry of the second company in the same segment for the first time. It may be noted here that companies like Harley Davidson, Ducati and BMW are also looking at tapping the Indian consumer more aggressively to gain more ground in the Indian superbikes segment.
Apart from Hero Motors' plan to make its presence felt in the Indian superbikes segment, auto component maker is also in talks to acquire a transmission company in Germany. Pankaj Munjal, managing director at Hero Motors said that the company is looking to become an integrated solution provider for the automotive industry.
