Saina Nehwal Back in Her Own Style
India's Saina Nehwal was witnessed to have bounced back in her own spectacular style at the Nehru indoor stadium on tenterhooks, before emerging in the $1,20,000 Yonex Sunrise-India Open Grand Prix gold badminton championships here on Sunday.
The women's top seed and World No. 6 managed to tackle the very tough challenger Choo Wong Mew of Malaysia, the second seed, to grab win by 20-22, 21-14, 21-12 in 56 minutes in the singles final.
While, Chetan Anand failed to counteract the defensive playing skills of Yunus Alamsyah of Indonesia. Yunus faced a defeat against Gurusaidutt in a one-sided match 21-13, 21-18.
Feeling nervous and skeptical of her shots, Saina lost two game points at 20-18 to witness a defeat in the very first game. She was witnessed to play cunningly, making Saina play close to the net, an area where Saina is known to fumble.
However, Saina managed to grab the turning point. She played long rallies, tackled Choo from the back with overhead taps, giving the viewers to have a glance on her spectacular smashes in the second game.
Her smashes were spot as she made unceasing attacks on Choo.
From 8-5, Saina made three clear smashes that befuddled Choo. With Saina mixing her drops and smashes meticulously, Choo totally landed in frenzy.
