The US Box Office Fight
In the debut weekend of the Karate Kid, casting Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith has elevated its way to the top of the North American box office. Kicking, Shrek Forever After into third spot, the reboot of the 1984 original took $56m
(£38m).
Taking the second position was an action film, the A-Team, which was based on the 1980s TV show and it captured over $26m (£17.7m). With receipts of $10m (£6.8m) and $8.2m (£5.58m), the Comedy Get Him To The Greek and Killers respectively, completed the top five positions.
Russell Brand is casted in Get Him To The Greek as an out-of-control British rock star Aldous Snow; whereas, starring Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher is the action-comedy movie, Killer.
The sixth position was backed by Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time, which took $6.58m (£4.48m), wherein, Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton were casted. On the other hand, Marmaduke, a canine comedy took $6m
(£4.08m).
The earnings of 'Sex and the City 2' accounted to be $5.53m (£3.76m), falling to the eight position; followed by Iron Man 2 with $4.55m (£3.1m). Earning $2.86m (£1.9mm), the tenth spot has been taken by Mad science and monster flick, Splice.
