Warning alarms to the environment by bio- medical garbage

Submitted by Harneet Mangat on Tue, 05/11/2010 - 00:22

Most of the poor countries including India are standing on the edge of risk created by bio- medical garbage. Bio-medical garbage waste has become menace for the environment.

Bio-medical waste is mounting because of growing number of hospitals and health centers. These hospitals generate large tons of waste every year which is becoming a great threat to our environment.

People are not aware of the fact that bio-medical waste can also be hazardous for lives so a seminar was organized by the Nagaland Pollution Control Board in collaboration with a few physicians, students and laboratory assistants to aware the people regarding this fact.

Government has made certain guidelines for all health centers and hospitals regarding disposal of bio-medical waste but nobody is following them and regardless of so much health hazards our government is sitting quietly, expressed by Rongsenwati, NPCB Chairman.
