Lenovo unveils new products, eyes more market share

Submitted by Rajinder Tiwana on Wed, 06/23/2010 - 13:57

On Wednesday, Lenovo came out with 12 new products in India. These are in the netbook, laptop and all-in-one personal computer (PC) categories.

The PC major has come up with the products as it eyes to increase its market share in the Indian market.

Talking to media, the Managing Director of Lenovo India, Amar Babu said that the new products have been designed keeping in mind the changing perspective and taste of Indian consumers. Youth, he added, is the target audience and the products are going to be marketed as a lifestyle product.

When asked as to what are the plans of the company for India, Babu said that they are planning to go ahead aggressively.

The new products are going to help Lenovo in consolidating their position in India and want to reduce the impact of slump that the firm faced in 2008.

Retail, house and small and medium enterprises are going to be the sector where Lenovo will focus majorly.

As of now, Lenovo's market share increased by 2.5 per cent to reach at 7.2 per cent in 2009-10. After the recession it had gone down to 4.3 per cent, in India.
