Submitted by Harneet Mangat on Wed, 06/23/2010 - 14:09

A recently conducted study has thrown light on the relationship between diabetes and consumption of some of the food items.

It has also shown how a person can completely negate the possibilities of having diabetes by controlling ones food intake.

This research, carried out by a group of researchers from the American Diabetes Association of Harvard Medical School, said that to avoid diabetes one should not only change ones lifestyle, but should also take in a healthy diet.

It also stated that regular workout also helps to control the blood sugar and has been named as ‘Healthy Eating for Type 2 Diabetes’.

Weight-maintenance is also necessary. It also said that consumption of citrus fruits, onions and cinnamon, also help. These have been found to regulate insulin activities within the body. Other food items are oatmeal cereal, which is a good blood sugar controller.

Whereas, fat free dairy, are a good bet as they reduce craving for food. Fiber-rich diet us also needed as it reduces the process of digestion and stops a patient from being hungry all the time.
