Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has managed to reach the third spot in the latest rankings released by the Badminton World Federation. This is considered to be a giant leap towards realizing her dream of becoming the world’s number one player. This has been her best rank ever in her career. Her previous best was the fifth rank in the month of March this year.

This year has been a great year for Saina.

She has registered title victory in India Open Grand Prix Gold in Chennai. Later on she has also won the Singapore Super Series. Most importantly, she has defeated three Chinese players in the women’s singles in the tournament. Saina has been the lone Indian shuttler in the top six rankings. All other shuttlers in top six are from China.

China’s Yihan Wang is at the top position in the ranking. She is followed by Xin Wang of her own country. Saina has managed to push behind Shixian Wang, Wang Lin and Jiang Yanjiao. All of them have declined by one spot.
