New Monsoon Onset Dates May Vary by One or Two Days
Monsoon is soon going to arrive in India and it has been estimated that this time it will prove to be better, than previously forecast. There are high hopes of good harvests this year and it will be badly required to reduce the inflationary impact of the decision of the Government to deregulate petrol charges.
The weather bureau has said that the rains from June to September this year are forecast to be 102% of the standard annual rainfall, upgrading its previous forecast of 98%.
“Global parameters and all models show monsoon is on track and would be normal”, Director General of India Meteorological Department, Ajit Tyagi said.
A team of 40 weather experts are scrutinizing to revise the normal onset dates for monsoon across the nation.
Ajit Tyagi has also cleared that the new monsoon dates may vary only by one or two days.
According to the standard datasets, June 1 is the normal date for the arrival of monsoon over Kerala, while in Delhi the date for the arrival of monsoon is June.
Scientists thought that they must revise the regular onset dates for south west monsoon, as they were made on the basis of limited data of less than 40 years.
