PM may ink civil N-deal with Canada today
India is all set to break the wall of mistrust between India and Canada which was build 36 years back when Canada had accused India of using Plutonium from reactors that Canada had supplied for the 1974 nuclear test during the regime of Mrs.Indira Gandhi.
Dr.Manmohan Singh had gone to Toronto for attending the G20 summit and is expected to sign a civil nuclear deal with Canada. The new deal will draw a path for supply of uranium and cooperation in research, development, waste management and radiation safety in atomic sector.
If the deal gets through then Canada country with which India gets into a civil nuclear deal since New Delhi had been allowed to go for global nuclear trade by the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) in September 2008.
India had already gone into similar treaties with countries like US, France and Russia.
Apart from this deal both Canada and India are expected to sign Memorandum of Understandings, which will give impetus to the economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries including the areas of science and technology, health, culture and agriculture.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be hosting a dinner in the honor of Indian Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh, where a presence of 400 dignitaries is expected.
Harper had been found saying that India and Canada are developing the wonderful potential of their relationships by rapidly expanding commercial, cultural and educational ties.
Harper showed keen interest to work alongside of the Indian Prime Minister to capitalize on the share strengths of the two countries.
The Indian Prime Minster is said to have separate meetings with the US president Barack Obama, French President Nicolas Sarkozy,British Prime Minister David Cameron and the Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan.
