Washington, May 9 : Over-eating, not decreased levels of physical activity, is to be blamed of the rise of obesity in the US, claims a new study.
The research that uses an innovative approach to study the relative contributions of food and exercise habits to the development of the obesity epidemic has concluded that the rise in obesity in the United States since the 1970s was virtually all due to increased energy intake.

Pattani, Thailand - Thai security forces fought with suspected Muslim militants in Narathiwat province Monday in a clash that left three insurgents dead and two captured, army sources said.
Insurgents killed two villagers in separate incidents in Pattani province, part of Thailand's southernmost region where 3,700 people have fallen victim to sectarian violence over the past five years.

Kathmandu, Sep 3 : Indian Union Minister for Railways Lalu Prasad Yadav will visit Kathmandu to hold talks with Nepalese leaders on the issue of floods in Saptakoshi, which has displaced millions of people in Bihar.
Yadav is likely to seek Nepal’s cooperation in solving the flood problem, which has hit both the countries.
He will meet President Dr. Rambaran Yadav and Prime Minister Prachanda.
Yadav had stated that the Bihar Government was negligent in dealing with flood problem.

Bangalore: In recognition of his services to the country, former president A P J Abdul Kalam has been selected by Karnataka for this year’s (2006-07) ‘Basava’ award in recognition of services to the country.
H S Mahadeva Prasad, Minister for Kannada and Culture narrated that the award consisting Rs 10 lakh, a memento and a citation will be presented to Dr. Kalam at a function to be held at the Jnana Jyothi auditorium on September 28.

London, June 19 : In a new research, a pair of scientists has suggested that weapons like spears, and a bow and arrow, go back as far back as 100,000 years ago, predating modern humans.
According to a report in New Scientist, the research was done by Matthew Sisk and John Shea from Stony Brook University in New York.
They say that simple stone blades make adequate arrowheads; so they might have been used in lightweight projectile weapons as far back as 100,000 years ago, when the blades first appeared.

Chana fell on rising arrivals in the physical market and higher production estimates, but a recovery in other pulses limited the downside. Arrival pressure has pulled down spot prices. Prices were merely tracking the spot. In the Delhi spot market price dropped by 50 rupees to 2,300 rupees per 100 kg. Chana dropped Rs 25 and settled at Rs 2310 per quintal. The volume was noted at 78010 lots. Support for chana is at 2296 below that could see a test of 2283. Resistance is now seen at 2332 above that could see a resistance of 2355.

Stock market analysts have maintained 'buy' rating on Essar Oil Ltd with an intraday target of Rs 148.
According to them, interested traders can purchase the stock above Rs 144 with a strict stop loss of Rs 141.
If the stock markets remain on the positive path then the stock price will hit a target above Rs 152.
Shares of the company, on Wednesday (Dec 10), closed at Rs 143.70 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The share price has seen a 52-week high of Rs 194 and a low of Rs 60.10 on BSE.

London, Nov 14 : Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has said he is tired of the football and may hang up his boots after next year’s World Cup in South Africa.
