Saina Clinches Third Consecutive Title
Saina Nehwal clinched the Indonesian Open Super Series recently.
This is her third consecutive title and Coach Pullella Gopichand is very happy. Gopichand is also a former All England Champion and he calls her feat 'amazing'.
Gopichand disclosed to IANS that it has been a wonderful tournament and winning three opens at a go is remarkable. In the previous three weeks, this is her third badminton title. Gopichand said that he had a word with Saina after the victory and she was cheerful though, a little exhausted.
The 20 -year -old has also made history by becoming the first woman from India to be ranked at the third place in the world.
Good news is that she will be probably ranked World No. 2 by the Badminton World Federation as she will get more points with her recent win.
Gopichand disclosed that before the tournament, Saina said that she was motivated and was optimistic of winning the title. She had revealed that she is not feeling any pressure due to her recent world ranking. She also added that she doesn’t give much thought to ranking and just focuses on her game.
Gopichand is hopeful that Saina’s win would motivate more youngsters to follow the game.
