BCCI announces 16 men squad for test series against Sri Lanka
The Indian cricket board has announced the 16 member squad for the upcoming test series against Sri Lanka. The squad has been announced in a press meet after a selection meeting held in Chennai. Mahendra Singh Dhoni will lead the team. The team is now at the top position in the test rankings. The opening pair of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir will be followed by Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman in the middle-order.
Moreover, the selectors have recalled left hand middle order batsman Yuvraj Singh for the tour. He was out of the Asia Cup Squad for this poor form in the Twenty 20 World Cup. The sectors have picked Murali Vijay as a reserved opener and One-day specialist Suresh Raina as well. Raina is yet to debut for India in the longer version of the game.
There will be three specialist spinners and as many seamers in this squad. Harbhajan Singh, left-armer Pragyan Ojha and leg-break bowler Amit Mishra will take care of the spin bowling department while Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma and Shanthakumaran Sreesanth has been picked up as three main strike bowlers. Wriddhiman Saha is also in the team as second wicket keeper.
