Moving SC, Anticipatory Bail Demanded by Ex- Goa Minister Pacheco
Former Goa Tourism Minister, Francisco Mickey Pacheco has moved the Supreme Court to get anticipatory bail in relation to the death of his woman friend, Nadia Torrado in Chennai.
The bail appeal is possibly going to be listed for a trial on Thursday.
The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court had on June 21 rebuffed the anticipatory bail appeal of Pacheco. It had also not given approval to the bail plea of his close helper, Lyndon Monteiro on technical grounds.
Both are charged with in terms of having connections relating to the case registered following the death of 28-year-old Nadia, who died after allegedly consuming poison on May 30 in Chennai.
Police have accused Pacheco with guilty homicide, whereas Monteiro has been accused of destroying proof.
The bench, while refusing the bail appeal, had said that the offence was of serious nature and custodial examination was necessary in the case.
Monteiro's bail plea was rejected on the basis that his advice did not bring on the record the truth that he had withdrawn his blocking bail appeal from the High Court on a previous instance after he was asked to remain there in person, which he failed to do so.
