Former Minister Sent to Jail for Two Days
After being underground for almost a month and running from authorities, Goa's former Tourism Minister Mickky Pacheco surrendered and was sent to a two-day judicial custody by a court in Margao. He was wanted in the case related to the mysterious death of Nadia Torrado.
He was charged with culpable homicide in the death case of 28 year old Nadia Torrado who died on May 30. He was missing for close to a month.
The judge U. V. Bakre declined bail to the former Minister till Monday afternoon and ordered him to be sent to a two-day judicial custody.
His application for anticipatory bail had already been rejected by the Supreme Court on Thursday.
He is wanted in the case related to the death of Nadia Torrado along with his close aide Lyndon Monteiro. Both of them are wanted in this case and will be facing culpable homicide charges.
Pacheco went underground after being quizzed by the Crime Branch officials for more than nine hours on June 4 last month. His close aide also surrendered and he was quizzed by the officials of the Crime Branch.
The case has generated a lot of publicity and the Goa Government was also severely criticized by the opposition politicians for its role in the whole issue.
